Welcome to Class 4

Miss Gibson is our Teacher.  Miss Whitaker and Mrs Moore are our Learning Support Assistants

and Mr McDanielson is our HLTA.

In year 4 we continue to build on the knowledge and skills that pupils have developed in the previous year. There is a significant focus on learning times tables to ensure that facts are well embedded in preparation for the statutory Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) in June.

Children continue to explore a wide range of texts from different genres and from different periods in history. We use the Accelerated Reader scheme to track children’s progress in reading and ensure that they are reading appropriately challenging books.

In year 4 children have weekly brass tuition with a specialist music teacher from Bradford Music & Arts Service. This is an excellent and exciting opportunity for your child to learn how to play a musical instrument. By the end of year 4 we hope that all children will be able to read basic musical notation.

Homework is set on Monday to be returned the following Monday. Please ensure that you listen to your child read at home at least 3-4 times a week. You can sign their reading record when they have finished their book to indicate that they are ready to take an Accelerated Reader quiz.

Our PE days are Monday and Tuesday. Please ensure that your child has a full PE kit in school.
