We aim to provide children with a high-quality Design Technology curriculum, which will enable children to use creativity and
imagination to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their
own and others’ needs, wants and values. Children will be able to apply a broad range of skills such as mathematics, science,
computing and art and design to help them with their designs and products. Pupils will learn how to take risks, becoming
resourceful, innovative, enterprising and independent. Through the evaluation of past and present design and technology,
children will develop a critical understanding of its impact and develop their knowledge, understanding and skills in order to
design and make high-quality prototypes and test their ideas and products and the work of others. Children will also be able to
draw upon their understanding of a healthy lifestyle and the principles of nutrition and learn how to cook simple recipes.
